Located near Madeira Airport, the beautiful bay of Machico has a wonderful beach area and facilities for both swimming and sunbathing.
The golden sandy beach 'Banda D´Além', a lovely stretch of soft sand created on the eastern side of Machico bay, adds to the charms of this lovely historic town.
There is also a pebbled beach, like almost all the beaches on Madeira Island, which is very popular with the locals, being quite busy at weekends.
Besides restaurant and bar services, Machico beach area also offers changing rooms, showers, football and volley ball practice area, pedal boats, jet skis, sun beds, parasols and good car parking. Bathers’ safety is ensured by lifeguards, and first aid services are also provided.
