The beach Praia Formosa, situated in the capital Funchal, just 10 minutes drive from the city centre, offers visitors three small sandy beaches and a large pebbled beach. If you’re more the adventurous type, try to walk on the rocks. But be careful, because sometimes they get tricky and you may be swimming in the water even before you feel like it!
In the summer, this beach attracts all kinds of sea and beach lovers, not only because of the sea and the sun, but also because of the sports activities, contests and nightlife that it offers.
The water quality is certified by the ‘Blue Flag’ and a team of lifeguards is watching over the safety of the bathers.
Among the many facilities you can find a medical centre, a kindergarten for children between 2 and 12 years old, changing rooms, snack bars, several areas for sports practice and a car park. |
