• Prainha

Prainha is located near the breathtaking area of Ponta de São Lourenço. This wonderful small beach with black sand plays the counterpart to the reality of the pebbled beaches spread all over the island. The surrounding landscape is so different from the greens that we are used to everywhere else on the island. You’ll find an arid landscape, painted in yellow, brown and orange.

The strong points of this beach are its sandy beach and that it provides changing rooms, a restaurant service, parasols and sun beds.
Weak points? Mainly the difficult beach access (and especially the return) and the lack of surveillance.

This beach gets very crowded on weekends during the summer as the working population usually has Saturdays and Sundays off and they also love to go to the beach to have a swim and relax in the sun. And who wants to blame them for this?
