Originally the property of Harry Hinton, the Quinta Palmeira now belongs to Henrique Jaime Welsh, heir of Harry Hinton. It covers an extensive area of 30.000 square meters and is located just above the Rua da Levada de Santa Luzia.
The highlights of this property are the magnificent gardens of great botanical interest, the wonderful panoramic view over Funchal’s amphitheatre, huge old trees and a very impressive house.
Probably the most interesting and certainly culturally important piece to see in this garden is a Manueline window from the Esmeraldo family house where Christopher Columbus once lived.
