The romanticism of the days of the good old train is about to return with the new project that will connect Monte and Terreiro da Luta.

It consists of an old-style railway train leaving from Largo da Fonte (Monte centre) to Terreiro da Luta where the old station used to be. This station will be transformed into a coffee shop, where everything from the garments to the pastries will demonstrate to the visitors how life was in charming Monte in the good old days of the 19th century.

The course with 1350 meters will lead through lush vegetation and offer magnificent views, which will make this train another exciting sightseeing experience. Then – once this project is finished – visitors to Madeira will have the possibility to go up to Monte by cable car, take the train to Terreiro da Luta and back to Monte and from there return to Funchal via a ride in a traditional toboggan.
