The Madeira Wine Rally, part of the FIA European Rally Cup, goes on the road on Friday, 2nd of August. The departure is schedule for 17H30 in front of The Ritz Café, in Avenida Arriaga.

This year 33 drivers, headed by the Portuguese Bruno Magalhães, in a Peugeot 207 S2000, who was last year's winner, and by the Italian Giandomenico Basso, also in a Peugeot 207 S200, who won the Rally in 2009, and Alexander Saliuk, Skoda Fabia S2000, leader of the European Rally Cup, will compete for a win in this prestigious European Rally.

The Rally starts in Funchal, with the drivers heading West where they'll start the 1st stage, between Água de Pena and Santo da Serra. Next, they'll have the first real challenge, the longest stage of the Rally, Chão da Lagoa (22Km), with its famous Caminho dos Pretos route.

On Saturday, the Rally starts early in the morning, and all stages are held in the mountains. If you want to see the Rally, the best spots will be Poiso, Chão da Lagoa and Terreiros, where the drivers will go through 3 times during the day.

For the third and last day of the Rally, Sunday, the drivers will head to the beautiful North Coast, where they will race in two of the most spectacular routes of the Rally, Paul da Serra and Encumeada. If you're planning to see the Rally in one of these spots, we advise on getting up early, because probably there will be lots of people there.

The arrival of the Rally is schedule for 16H44 in front of The Ritz, in Avenida Arriaga, with the Winners Ceremony and celebration.

Enjoy the Rally and stay safe.
