The Nossa Senhora do Monte Festival is one of the most significant religious and cultural event on the island and in the world, attracting thousands of visitors each year. This year the two-day event will be held during the 14th and 15th of August.
With garlands of brightly coloured flowers, streets stalls selling everything from food, drinks, sweets and handmade gifts, the Monte Festival transforms into one of the liveliest events of the year. Why not go to Monte for a espetada and bolo do caco, accompanied by a jug of wine with laranjada?
If this is not enough, then take your dancing shoes and revel in the vast array of music on offer, including religious, traditional and modern genres as the island pays homage to her patron saint.

Travelling couldn’t be easier as you can catch the no. 20, 21 22 and 48 yellow city bus up to Monte or take the cable car.
