Rocha do Navio Cable Car, Santana, Madeira

The cable car at Rocha do Navio is located on the north coast of Madeira, in the municipality of Santana. The five-minute trip down to Fajã da Rocha do Navio is breathtaking, and you will find vineyards, banana plantations and one of Madeira’s protected Natural Reserves, Rocha do Navio.

This cable car was built in 1997 mainly for local farmers to have better access to their land plantations. Today the 'Teleférico da Rocha do Navio' is open to visitors to explore and experience its beautiful landscape and nature.

The name given to this site, ‘Rocha do Navio’, is related to the sinking of a Dutch ship in the nineteenth century.

This cable car works every day of the week, between 9:00 and 17:00.
