Having visited the island every year since 2000, it is now like home. The people are friendly and there is plenty to do from levada walks, tours, beaches and pools not to mention all the delicious food served in a variety of restaurants. Can't wait for tomorrow (9.09.12) when we visit again & this year another tobogan ride from Monte is on the itinery. Oh yes & the weather is always glorious.
We first went to Madeira in 1982 and have already booked for our 25th visit over Christmas and New Year 2012/13. Can't think of any nicer way to get away from the English winter. The street illuminations and decorations in December/January, plus the fireworks welcoming the New Year, are always memorable.
We have been to Funchal 3 times and love it. The people are very nice, the hotels are geat, lots to do and see, It's a pity it is so expensive to get there.
