The Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport (FNC) (was distinguished with the award "Best European Airport 2023" by the Airports Council International Europe (ACI-Europe), an award referring to the category of airports with "less than 5 million passengers".
The prize was awarded at the ACI-Europe Gala Dinner, which took place this week in Barcelona, and on the occasion, airport services and airports that earned the highest rankings in Europe were distinguished.
The Madeira airport, managed by VINCI Airports, receives a very important award that adds even more value to this tourist destination par excellence, having contributed to its election, among other aspects, the fact that this Atlantic airport received more than four million passengers only in 2022, which represented a historical maximum in the history of this airport.
At the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport is offering 59 routes this summer, among which are new routes with Budapest, Paris, Valencia, Malaga, Milan, Rome, and New York, respectively.
The aviation sector has also attributed Madeira Airport the "ACA 4+" environmental certification, similar to what was received by the other 10 airports in Portugal, making it the first country in the European Union to have its entire airport system with this sustainability certification.
