Madeira Island is the winner of the prestigious award given by the 'World Cruise Awards' for the Best European Cruise Destination.
After having received last week, for the 8th consecutive time, the award for "Best Island Destination in the World", it now wins another Tourism "Oscar" and in the first year it has been nominated.
Besides the natural beauty of Funchal's amphitheatre where the port is located, safety and comfort standards for passengers, as well as the creation of new arrival and departure terminals, are aspects that have been pointed out as determinant to consolidate a destination that for several decades has been known for its ability to welcome its cruisers, hence the companies have recognized Madeira as a cruise destination par excellence.
Paula Cabaço, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Portos da Madeira, believes that "this distinction is for us, and for Madeira Island, a source of great pride, reflecting the success of the new strategy carried out by Portos da Madeira following COVID, rebuilding the confidence of cruise tourists, stimulating demand and keeping the Region at the top of the list of European cruise tourism preferences" and that, "it will certainly bring very positive results for the future ahead", she believes.
