• EasyJet Cabin Crew ON Strike

The easyJet cabin crew strike starts this Friday and runs until next Tuesday, July 25th.

The strike announced by the collaborators of the airline 'easyJet', could be controlled by the British company, which expects to operate at 100% to Madeira Island and to the neighbouring island of Porto Santo.

Portuguese workers at EasyJet are demanding salary increases to bring them in line with the ones practised by the airline in other countries. According to the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel, Portuguese workers who do the same job as their colleagues in Germany or France receive 67% less, which these workers consider to be discrimination they can no longer accept.

On the other hand, the company EasyJet came today to communicate that the increases proposed by the company are above survival and that they already represent 120% of the national average of the sector for Crew and 154% for Cabinet chiefs. At the same time, they accuse the workers of trying to promote the holidays of passengers with the intention of impractical increases of 44%, far from the Portuguese reality.

Meanwhile, the company guarantees that flights to Madeira and Porto Santo are safeguarded, as easyJet is managing the strike by changing flight schedules in advance, refunding those who want a refund, or transferring their ticket to a later flight free of charge.

The company also advises its passengers to use the 'Flight Tracker' application or the company's own website in order to check the status of their flights in advance.
