• Funchal Beaches

The extensive Praia Formosa Beach, which is always popular with bathers, received a second surveillance and assistance post precisely to give more security to its beachgoers.

A new surveillance facility has been established on the eastern side of Praia Formosa, next to the Doca do Cavacas tunnel. Aside from this investment in user safety, the municipality of Funchal has once again guaranteed approximately 400 parking spaces for this summer, allowing free access to that public beach.

Highlighting the excellence in the quality of its waters, as ensured by Frente MarFunchal, which holds four blue flags and three gold awards. This explains why the number of bathers at Funchal beaches has doubled in the first five months of the year.

On the other hand, the Municipality of Funchal has rehabilitated some of the city beaches through the company Frente MarFunchal, which manages the bathing complexes, investing around 10,000 euros in small works for the comfort and safety of its users.

Among the improvements carried out, we highlight the restoration of the water fountains along the Funchal promenade, between Lido and Doca do Cavacas. The beaches of Lido and Gavinas will reopen to the public this Monday, as they were temporarily closed due to a malfunction in the sanitation system, which has now been resolved.

At São Tiago beach, Frente MarFunchal has repositioned the pebbles in order to facilitate access to the sea, and in front of the Ilhéu do Gorgulho, the ramp access to the sea in that bathing complex was also improved.
