• Funchal receives

The Port of Funchal welcomed for the first time, the brand new cruise ship MSC Seashore, which began a 10-hour stopover in the capital city of the Pearl of the Atlantic.

It was just past 10 am when the brand new MSC Seashore docked at the Port of Funchal, coming from Tenerife, having received the usual greeting of water jets from the tugboat of the entity that manages the port.

MSC Seashore is making a partial turnaround, bringing on board 4,110 passengers and 1,608 crew. The ship leaves at 10pm for Valencia.

The 'Seabourn Quest' is another liner that is already at the same port, having arrived two hours earlier. This transatlantic liner, coming from Miami, carries 336 passengers and 374 crew members. It leaves at 11pm for the neighbouring island of Porto Santo.

Also at the Port of Funchal, the mega-yachts "Almyra II" and the "Naia" are making relocation trips from the Caribbean to Europe. On the island of Madeira, they take advantage of their stay to "rest the crew and refuel".

According to the Clube Entusiastas de Navios da Madeira (Shipwreck Enthusiasts Club of Madeira), the Almyra II arrived yesterday, at the end of the morning, "coming from St. Marteen having anchored in the vicinity of the Lazareto", off Funchal. Afterwards, it docked in the port, after the departure of the ship 'AIDAnova'. This is a mega sailing yacht that "measures 49.8 metres in length", built in 2000 and extensively renovated in 2021 at Perini Navi shipyards. "It has the capacity to accommodate 12 guests in 5 luxurious suites, served by 8 crew members," the enthusiasts further adds.

The Naia, for its part, "arrived this morning from Philipsburg in St. Marteen". It is a "73.6-metre long superyacht built in 2011 by Freire Shipyard in Spain, having been refurbished in 2014". According to the same source, "the Naia is available for charter from $595,000 per week, and is found in the Mediterranean in summer and in the Caribbean in winter".

The organisation understands that the Almyra II will leave Funchal at 1pm tomorrow, Thursday, bound for Gibraltar. The Naia is scheduled to leave at 7am next Friday, bound for Port-Vendres.
