• São Vicente Central Beach

São Vicente, located on the north side of the island, boasts excellent conditions for surf lovers, due to the sea always being rougher in this area. Opened in September 2004, São Vicente’s bathing complex includes a series of support facilities for water sports, along with a restaurant and bar, sundeck and a 620 metres long (2,034 ft) promenade that connects Varadouro with Baía dos Juncos, the most popular surfing spot in São Vicente. Another popular place among surfers is Praia do Calhau, a pebble beach, as the name implies, with clear waters but without surveillance or support infrastructures. On the other hand, Fajã da Areia has an outdoor cafe and a sundeck, and is a great spot for various sports, as it enjoys the protection of a sea breaker.
