Madeira Island registers more than 900,000 overnight stays for the first time.
The latest data released by the Regional Statistics Office of Madeira (DREM), reveal that tourism accommodation in the Pearl of the Atlantic, "for the first time this month, over 900 thousand overnight stays".
In guests alone, Madeira is up almost 12% and 11% more in relation to overnight stays. Compared to the reference year 2019, these increases represent 51% in guests and 31.5% in overnight stays, respectively.
The main source markets of residents abroad accounted for 80.4% of total overnight stays and in this set, "the German market is the one that records more overnight stays, in April 2023, with about 192.3 thousand (+1.9% than in the same month), followed by the United Kingdom, with 145.7 thousand (-5.4%), and France, with 86.9 thousand (+19.2%)", still at last the same government source.
