Bird Island (Ilha das Aves in Portuguese) is the new tourist attraction on Madeira Island, a 7,000-square-metre enclosure containing more than 300 exotic birds from various countries.

Ilha das Aves Madeira is a private development by the Macedo Family located in the parish of Campanário, in Ribeira Brava, which aims to recreate an authentic "oasis of exotic birds", and according to the Mayor of Ribeira Brava, Ricardo Nascimento, constitutes a "added value not only for this location, but also for the municipality of Ribeira Brava," being this a unique project, a new offer that was missing in the Pearl of the Atlantic.

Several species of parrots, macaws, cockatoos, and parakeets, as well as toucans, scarlet ibises, and a pair of grey-crowned cranes, are among the most stunning examples of rare exotic birds found on Ilha das Aves, Madeira.

In addition to the amazing exotic birds, this mini-zoo has several tropical gardens, artificial ponds with carp, swans, and beautiful flamingos at the entrance.
There is also a restaurant, a children's playground and a souvenir shop on site.

Admission is 7.50 euros for adults and 5.00 euros for children (3 to 12).
