• Madagascar Bishop Visits Madeira

Bishop José Alfredo Caires de Nóbrega, who is on a mission in Madagascar, will be visiting Madeira Island from the 16th to the 26th of August on a trip to collect donations.

The Republic of Madagascar is a large island country located near the southeastern coast of Africa, and it suffered greatly after the passage of Tropical Cyclone Freddy between February and March of this year, which devastated numerous infrastructures and, above all, the rice crops that help feed that population.

The region of Mananjary was one of the most affected by the mentioned Cyclone, and it is precisely in this location that the Madeiran bishop, José Alfredo Caires de Nóbrega, carries out his priesthood. For this reason, the bishop returned to his homeland to gather support from his fellow Madeirans in order to obtain some assistance to rebuild certain schools and community centres in the most affected areas.

During this trip, the bishop intends to make several visits of a religious and cultural nature, not forgetting some masses and even gatherings with the local population, with stops at numerous parishes and churches on the Madeira island, especially in Calheta and Caniço, where the Bishop will try to collect as many donations as possible.

Masses and visits:

Parish of Atouguia (Paróquia de Atouguia) on the 18th of August, 18:30 - Calheta.
Parish of Eiras (Paróquia de Eiras) on the 19th of August, 18:30 - Caniço.
Mother Church on the 20th of August, 10:00 - Caniço.
Museum of Photography at the Núcleo Museológico do Caniço, on the 23rd of August, 17:00 - Caniço.
