Already on its 8th consecutive edition, the exhibition "Christmas Tables with Madeira Embroidery", an event promoted by Bordal - Bordados da Madeira, which intends to recreate the Christmas spirit with an exhibition of Christmas tables, where Madeira Embroidery assumes the main role in all the eight decorated spaces.
Bordal originated on March 10, 1962. Presently, it holds a prominent position as one of the key producers and exporters of Madeira Embroidery.
The exhibition will be on display in the Main Hall of the Municipal Theatre Baltazar Dias from December 13th to January 7th.
On the opening of the show, the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, praised the initiative and defended that the "salvation" of the Madeira Embroidery passes by the innovation, by the modern and actual design, and at competitive prices. Albuquerque also added that, "what we have to take advantage of is the art and the creativity of our young people, especially the quality designers that we have and adapt them to the new trends, inserting the embroidery in new pieces, using sustainable materials", believes the governor, who also warned against the counterfeiting of this genuinely Madeiran product.
The event has the participation of five hotels, two associations and one designer, namely: Savoy Signature, decorated by Nini Andrade Silva, Castanheiro Boutique Hotel, decorated by Lília and João Paulo Gomes, Porto Bay Hotels Resorts, decorated by Graça Reis, Pestana Hotel Group, decorated by Túlipa Garden, Quinta do Furão Hotel, decorated by Tininha Pinto, Madeira Promotion Association, decorated by Dino Gonçalves, the Official Interpretive Guides Association. The event will also count on the collaboration of the designer, Giano Gonçalves.
