'Green Attitude for a healthy Planet' is the theme of the first edition of the Environmental Theatre Festival of Funchal City Hall.
The event, which will be held for the first time in Funchal, Madeira's capital city, is part of the municipality's Environmental Education and Awareness programme and will take place next week, on June 20th, 2023, at the Municipal Garden (Jardim Municipal).
To give substance to the initiative, the municipality mobilised several students and users of community centres and municipal gyms, who created an original text on the environmental theme already mentioned in order to be presented to the public in the form of a play.
In addition to raising awareness of the environmental issues that affect our planet, the event also aims to promote contact between different generations by bringing together children and young people who will interact with the elderly, forming a single team. In turn, these participants will reuse different materials in the process of building and making their props and costumes, and this will be another attraction of the festival, where they hope to shine by presenting themselves to the public in a genuine way without promoting waste, proving that it is possible to do things differently, saving the environment.
