Its April, spring is in the air, and the island looks forward to some great regional and international events. On the 6th and 7th, the annual Lemon Festival takes place in Ilha, Santana. They will be celebrating all things lemon accompanied by some lively entertainment as well.

The "VivaCidade" festival is a cultural event held in Funchal Largo do Chafariz, Praça Amarela, Mercado dos Lavradores, and Rua Imperatriz D. Amélia from April 10th to 13th (17:00 to 21:00), showcasing a variety of musical, theatrical, and dance performances.

The Madeira Rum Festival held at Largo da Restauração, Funchal between the 16th and 21st is the perfect opportunity to discover Madeira’s new and diverse rums.

The island of Porto Santo celebrates all things Tuna with their Tuna Festival from the 22nd to 27th at Vila Baleira hotel Porto Santo Island. There will be food tastings, workshops and hundreds of innovative ways to cook this delicious fish.

From the 23rd to the 28th, the Santa Cruz Book Fair unfolds its magic at the picturesque Reis Magos beach promenade in Caniço, Madeira. Enjoy entertainment, poetry, literature, music, art, and outdoor cinema amidst the island's beauty.

The Regional Band Meeting will be held in Ribeira Brava from the (Dates to be announced). This cultural event aims to promote and highlight the Region's rich musical heritage as well as lesser-known philharmonic composers. One of the highlights of the event is the band parade through the main streets of Ribeira Brava, which culminates in a concert by all of the bands at the local church.

The Expotropical, an event aimed at promoting Madeira's subtropical fruits and flavours, will take place at Funchal Praça do Povo from the 25th to the 28th and will feature a variety of entertainment and musical concerts.

On the 27th and 28th the Madeira Island Ultra Trail (MIUT) has approximately 2,500 runners taking part in the four-race event. The 115 km Ultra is the ultimate challenge as runners’ race across Madeira’s central mountain range from Porto Moniz to Machico.

The Sugarcane fair takes place on the 27th and 28th at the Canhas Farmers Market in Ponta do Sol. The festival, well renowned for its music and entertainment also has a hands-on approach, as on Saturday morning spectators can take part in the sugarcane harvest.
