São Pedro celebrations in Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava continue until July 2nd.

After the firework fantasia of June, July shows no sign of slowing down as the islanders celebrate Madeira’s autonomy from the mainland or ‘Madeira Day’ on the 1st.
The Madeira Classic Car Club is promoting the "100 Mile" - Historic Rally, which will take place on July 1st. This 160-kilometer (100-mile) circuit features a wide range of automobiles, the earliest of which date back to 1952 and the most recent of which date back to 1988. The Regional Folklore 24-hour dancing festival kicks up its heels on the 1st and 2nd in Santana. This festival brings both national and regional folklore groups together as they dance a 24 hourathon much to the excitement of the crowds.

Bringing on the heat, we have the Funchal Jazz Festival from the 1st to 5th Jardim Municipal (Municipal Garden) and from the 6th to the 8th at the Santa Catarina Park, Funchal. This big-name event attracts Jazz artists from all over the world, and if Jazz is your thing, you will not want to miss this much-anticipated event.
On the 4th the island plays host to the ‘Big Game Fishing Championship’ where sport fishermen from all over the world attempt to catch a record-breaking Blue Marlin in one of the best game fishing regions in the world.
Need a little bit of energy to keep up with the music, then the Regional Banana Fair held in Madalena do Mar may be the ticket. The event takes place from the 7th to the 9th and celebrates all things banana, proving the longevity and versatility of this fruit.
The Tuna, Skipjack, and Seafood Festival is a gastronomic event held in the fishing village of Caniçal on the 7th and 9th of July to honour the hard work of fishermen. Visitors will be able to sample a variety of regional delicacies, as well as live music bands and plenty of entertainment.
Expomadeira, Madeira's oldest and largest business exhibition, returns to the Barreiros stadium from the 7th to 16th.
The first edition of the São Vicente Challenge 2023 Obstacle Race will take place on July 8th from 09h00 to 14h00 at the Juncos Football Stadium in São Vicente. This event offers both individual and team categories, aiming to motivate and reward participants for their effort, dedication, teamwork, and athletic capabilities. The obstacles surpass mere barriers, including challenging jumps, throws, climbs, and descents.
While the VIII Regatta of Traditional Canoes of Madalena do Mar takes place on the 9th providing a glimpse of Madeiran sea history and a chance to soak up some warm sea air. Madeira's running scene has grown in recent years, attracting local, national, and international runners. It's all uphill in the Madeira Uphill, one of Europe's toughest races, which takes place on the 9th.

Those interested in Madeira’s farming culture will not want to miss the Santa Agricultural Fair in Santa, Porto Moniz from the 13th to 16th. Dating back to 1955 the fair details Madeira’s agricultural history while providing a typical friendly festival experience.
The annual Limpet Festival held at Paul do Mar from the 14th to 16th will whet any appetite as this favourite little shellfish is the star attraction of this popular local event.
Santa Catarina Park (See Live Webcam) provides the perfect setting for the VII annual Summer Opening Festival, held from the 14th to 15th and 21sr to 22nd of July. This outdoor urban music event attracts Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk and Reggae performers from all over the world.
From 14th to July 23rd, Madeira will host the "Madeira SABOREA, a Journey Through Taste" Gastronomic Festival, a project aimed at promoting Macaronesia as a global culinary destination through the strengthening of gastronomic and cultural ties.
A must see if you would like to do something different. On the 15th Funchal will be hosting the XIX Regatta of Madeiran Traditional Canoes. These fishing vessels sail along a 2.5km course from Funchal Harbour to Barreirinha in the Old Town.
The Harvey Foster Classic New Road meeting will take place on the 16th, beginning at 10 a.m. at Avenida do Mar, followed by a drive between Câmara de Lobos and Funchal city centre, where the vehicles will be displayed.
On the 16th Porto da Cruz also plays host to its annual ‘Porto da Cruz Trail Natura’ trail running competition comprising of a 50km, 25km and an 11km fun race, attracting regional and national competitors.
From the 20th to the 22nd, the Casa do Povo da Quinta Grande will host the Regional Chickling Vetch Exhibit, which will include live entertainment as well as traditional food and drink. The island changes gear as the 47th annual Tour of Madeira by Bicycle Race has regional, national and international competitors battling it out on Madeira’s demanding winding roads from the 20th to the 23rd
Porto Moniz is a must for water lovers during the 24th to the 30th as the municipality celebrates one of its most exciting water sports events of the year – Sea Week. The week includes sea races, competitions, sea games, boat rides all accompanied by a very festive atmosphere.

The concert series "Concertos L," which combines traditional and contemporary musical styles with Portuguese and global music, will return to Estalagem da Ponta do Sol on July 26, August 2, 9, 19, 30, and September 16 and 29.

Finally, the month rounds off with more chances to sample the islands local cuisine at the weeklong Machico Gastronomic Fair. This symbolic event provides both entertainment and the opportunity to sample some of the island’s eastern dishes from the 28th July to the 3th of August. On the 29th and 30th, the Quinta Magnólia garden will host the annual "Classics at Magnólia" event, which will feature a spectacular display of well-preserved classic vehicles and motorcycles from Madeira collectors.
