It’s June, and that can only mean one thing! Fun, fireworks and magic as the Festival of the Atlantic blasts into action. This year we have four countries (France, Mexico, Switzerland, and Portugal) competing for the coveted prize of creating Madeira’s spectacular end of year firework extravaganza.
The opening festival celebrations will take place in Machico for the first time this year, with a fireworks display on Friday, June 2nd, at 23:00, during the Sixteenth Century Market.
The firework displays will take place at 22.30 on the 3rd (France – ‘The 5th element’), 10th (Mexico – ‘Sing Dance Madeira’), 17th (Switzerland – ‘Icons – Legends of Rock’), and 24th (Portugal – ‘Rituals’).
This year, Porto Santo was once again included in the festival celebrations. The fireworks show will take place on the 23rd at 23.30 at the old city pier.
The Funchal Marina and Funchal City webcams will catch all the action as they broadcast these spectacular events live via their webcam streaming service.
