• Madeira Day 1st of July

The Pearl of the Atlantic celebrates 'Regional Day' on July 1st with lots of music and entertainment in Funchal city centre.
 
The commemorations allusive to the 'Day of the Autonomous Region of Madeira and Madeiran Communities', which will be celebrated on July 1st, 2023, begin the day before, next June 30th, at 21:30 at Praça do Povo (People's Square) with a concert by the Funchal Jazz Orchestra, featuring Sofia Almeida
On the 1st of July, which, despite being a Saturday, is a regional holiday, the invited artist is the famous singer Luís Represas, who will be accompanied by the Madeira Classic Orchestra, with the performances starting at 21:30.
 
Madeira Day aims to celebrate the political autonomy granted to this archipelago by the Portuguese State through constitutional revision in 1976, which gives it its own legislative power, with Madeira having a Legislative Assembly elected for this purpose.
 
Access to both shows is free, an initiative by the Regional Government of Madeira.
