The Madeira Promotion Association presented to the public the new brand image, Madeira, the presentation ceremony took place on April 12th, 2021 at Praça do Povo in Funchal.
The new logo created by BAR Ogilvy and Bloom Consulting consists of the word 'Madeira' with coloured letters in a circular and semicircular shape, it will be used not only in promoting the destination, but also by the Regional Government itself.
One million euros will be invested in promoting the destination, using the new logo. One of the objectives of this new brand is to make Destination Madeira a “unique and excellent destination”, said the regional secretary for Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus.
Miguel Albuquerque, who was speaking at Praça do Povo, said he was convinced that "we will have a positive cycle in our tourism again". In that sense, betting on continuing to be a safe destination for visitors and also on the fact that it is the first region in Europe that created a green corridor.
The existing green corridor at the Madeira airport has been extended for vaccinated and recovered travellers from covid-19. To be eligible, travellers must present the vaccination certificate or proof of recovery within the last 90 days, and must be submitted in advance to the app madeirasafe.com prior to the trip.
The Government of Madeira expects the total reopening in October with 70% of the population vaccinated. The Flower Festival will be the first major event of the reopening (dates to be announced).
