Here we show our video of the magical Madeira New Year’s Eve Fireworks 2018/2019 capturing what can only be described as one of the best fireworks shows in Europe. This year thousands of Madeirans and tourists flocked to Funchal and surrounding viewpoints, while passengers and crew members from the ten cruise liners that either docked in the harbour or bay enjoyed the end of year splendour from their ships as the clouds miraculously lifted allowing for eight and half minutes of pure colour, excitement and artistry to light the heavens; celebrating not only the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 but also commemorating the 600 years of the Discovery of Madeira and Porto Santo.
This year a new Madeiran record was set as over 174,000 fireworks were released using a total of nine tonnes of explosives.
