Breathtaking, demanding, exhausting and exhilarating the 10th Madeira Island Ultra Trail is due to set off on 28th April 2018. The event, which is split into four categories, MIUT (115km), ULTRA (85km), MARATHON (42km) and MINI (16km) will have a total of 2,487 competitors starting from various locations within Madeira and has a truly international feel with entrants from the U.K, France, Sweden, Lithuania, Canada, U.S.A and Spain taking part.
The MIUT will commence at 00:00 taking a gruelling course from Porto Moniz to Machico. The race comprises of night and day runs, with competitors traversing a variety of demanding routes covering Paul da Serra, Pico Ruivo which is the highest ascent at 1700m (5,578 feet), Ribeiro Frio and Portela before descending through Degolada, Larano foothpath and finally finishing in Machico.
