The famous Monte Festival, 'Festa do Monte', will have an extraordinary public collective transport service.
This is one of the main festivals on Madeira Island, which every year brings thousands of people to the parish of Monte to celebrate its patron, Our Lady of Monte. An event that will take place this year from August 14 to 15, 2023.
Since the area does not have enough space to park thousands of vehicles, the public company that manages collective transportation in the capital of Madeira, Horários do Funchal, will provide an extraordinary service to accommodate all those who wish to go to the Monte festival without the inconvenience of finding parking for their private vehicles.
The HF extraordinary service runs on the 14th of August (between 18:00 and 04:00) and on the 15th of August (between 09:30 and 18:30), departing from Funchal next to the Madeira Electricity Company and heading to the centre of the festival, Largo da Fonte. Return trips will begin at the same location where passengers exit the buses.
For those who do not have charged passes or pre-purchased journeys (GIRO), tickets for the extraordinary service have special prices, with single journey tickets for adults being sold at the several sales points of HF costing 1.80 euros per journey, while round-trip tickets cost 3.20 euros. Children between 6 and 12 years old are free of charge.
