The annual Sé Festival, one of the most important cultural events of the year, will take place from the 19th to 27th. With its lively local atmosphere, the streets surrounding Praça do Municípo and the Sé Cathedral are brought to life as locals and tourists enjoy an evening out while sampling the rich array of typical Madeiran food and drink on offer.
The Festas da Sé will begin at 17:30 on Friday, May 19, with live entertainment twice a day (lunch from 12:30 to 13:30 and afternoon/evening from 17:30 to 18:30), with restaurants open until midnight (except on Fridays and Saturdays, which close at 01:00).
However, the festival it is not just about eating and drinking, as each night there is a wealth of entertainment from live music, FADO, performances from the philharmonic bands and folklore dancing; all adding up to create a week of unmissable food, fun and entertainment.
