Funchal's Skate Park was remodelled

The innovative project brought together around 30 students from the Design Course at the University of Madeira to remodel the city of Funchal's Skate Park, which is located next to the Funchal Cable Car.

Funchal City Hall, the University of Madeira, and the Madeira EAPN (European Anti-Poverty Network) carried out a pilot project to remodel the Skate Park located at Almirante Reis, in the Old Town of Funchal.

The project aimed not only at remodelling the space, which is mostly frequented by young people, but also at taking into consideration aspects related to interculturality and social cohesion in these younger sections of society.

To refer to the fact that this project resulted from a collective effort, since besides the students of the University of Madeira, it counted on the intervention of tourists and elements of the skater community, and in order to integrate part of the local youth community, it benefited from the ideas and drawings of a street artist.

This project comes in the wake of a partnership that emerged about a year ago and brought together these same three entities (City Hall, the University, and the EAPN), which at the time proceeded to the stylization of two bus stop shelters.
