Funchal is organising various sports activities in the Town Square (Praça do Município), a way of bringing together the young and not-so-young residents of Madeira's capital in a recreational manner.
After the success of previous editions, Funchal City Hall (CMF) will once again hold the event called 'Sports in the Square' (Desporto na Praça), which, as the name indicates, takes place at the Municipal Square in Funchal and brings together hundreds of young people for the practise of various sports activities.
The event will take place between July 3rd and 7th, 2023, and will include a variety of sports modalities (gymnastics, table tennis, boccia, traditional games, sailing, dancing, cycling, chess, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and karate), with the goal of promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyles among the younger population at a time when many have already begun their holidays. However, the less young are also invited to participate in order to foster intergenerational encounters.
The interested citizens can (and should) also participate in the several activities programmed by the municipality of Funchal. You simply need to go to the location, which is freely accessible without the need to register.
