Madeira Island is once again nominated for the 30th edition of the highly prestigious 'World Travel Awards 2023'.

The Best Island Destination in the World (in title), once again stands out from the competition by receiving a total of five nominations for this year's World Travel Awards. These distinctions are considered by experts in the tourism industry as being "the most prestigious and recognised awards" in the sector.

The Pearl of the Atlantic, as it has been known for decades, received the following nominations: Best Island Destination in Europe; Best Adventure Destination in Europe; Best Destination for Festivals and Events in Europe; Best Sustainable Destination in Europe; and Best Beach Destination in Europe.

According to Madeira Tourism, these awards, created in 1993 and for which Madeira has received several distinctions every year, "prove the quality of Madeira and Porto Santo's offer as a tourist destination of excellence and have proven to be an excellent communication tool that, more than ever, places the destination in an excellent position".

We also recall that Madeira Island "has been elected the "Best Island Destination in the World" multiple times, awards that "attest to the exceptional nature of this archipelago, which is increasingly recognised as one of the most seductive tourist destinations on a global scale".
In recent years, "this island has received awards for its excellence in areas such as culture and traditions, safety, hotels, golfing conditions and the richness of its ecosystems," adds the government source. In this regard, "the consecration of the Laurel Forest or Laurissilva Forest as World Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO stands out".

The European Gala of the World Travel Awards, which celebrates its 30th edition this year, will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in Georgia, in Batumi.

Voting is open until August 20th, and all you need to do to support the Pearl of the Atlantic is click the "Register" button and submit your vote.
