What an explosive beginning to March, as the Carnival celebrations continue to immerse the island in colour, light and entertainment. The ever-popular main parade takes place on the 2nd and the Fun Parade (Trapalhão) being held on the 5th. Meanwhile, Porto Santo will be holding its annual Porto Santo Nature Trail between the 2nd and 3rd. This Ultra Trail event comprises of three races – 42km, 21km and the short 7.5km. A must for runners who want to experience something a little different. The popular Anona festival takes place in Faial, Santana during the 16th and 17th with vibrant Anona exhibitions and live entertainment. The Madeira Forest and Tree week starts on the 21st at both the Parque Ecológical do Funchal and FNAC at Madeira Shopping. The week comprises of walks, demonstrations, exhibitions and tree planting opportunities. Between the 22nd and 31st both the Auditorium at the Casa do Povo in Camacha and the Baltazar Dias Municipal theatre are hosting their ‘AMO-Teatro Festival’ allowing both professional and amateur theatre groups to showcase their incredible talent.
