Lido Promenade

The Lido coastal promenade in Funchal, is well known for the many tourist facilities it offers and the extensive leisure area much appreciated by locals as well as tourists. Lined with palm trees and bordered by splendid botanical gardens, this promenade links the Lido area with the pebbled Praia Formosa beach at the western end of Funchal, offering breathtaking views over the sea and towards Cabo Girão to all those who stroll, walk or run along there… or who just relax on one of the many benches!

Do you want to go for a swim in the sea or just sunbathe? All along this promenade there are several opportunities to enjoy these activities. There are two public swimming pool complexes – Lido, with a really large seawater pool, and Ponta Gorda – as well as the private swimming pool complex of Clube Naval, all of which offer extensive leisure facilities with seawater and separate children’s pools, sea access, sports activities, restaurants, snack bars, etc… But if you prefer, you can also go to Gorgulho Beach. As you can see, the Lido area has all you need for spending a relaxing day at the sea front!

Along the Lido promenade you will also find some nice restaurants of different categories (some of them are a little bit hidden inside the public swimming pool areas) and with varied offers, giving you the opportunity to enjoy your dinner while admiring magnificent sunsets and breathtaking views over the ocean and the surrounding areas!
