Porto Moniz Natural Pools

The natural bathing pools surrounded by bizarre lava rocks and filled by the tide with crystal-clear water are undoubtedly the main attraction of this village.

Not only for their excellent bathing conditions but also for their beauty, these natural pools are the perfect place for relaxing, swimming, sunbathing or even just for a visit. This bathing complex also provides a children's playground and facilities for people with special needs. Further facilities are:
Changing rooms with lockers to keep personal belongings, excellent shower rooms, a snack bar, first aid services and a car park. Lifeguards watch over the safety of the bathers.

Cachalote natural pools are located at the entrance of Porto Moniz Village, right next to Cachalote restaurant and to the Aquarium at São João Baptista Fort. Also near hotels and the Living Science Centre, these beautiful volcanic pools are of free access but have no lifeguard surveillance.
