• Seixal Beach
  • Praia da Jamaica

Even nowadays, one of the many charms of Seixal is its serenity allied to a landscape painted with the green of the mountains and the crystal blue of the sea.

This is precisely the stunning scenery of one of the most popular beaches in this parish, Porto do Seixal Beach, a natural black sand beach located right next to Seixal harbour. With a breathtaking landscape — the green cliffs and mountains of the island's north coast — this unsupervised beach offers its visitors access to the toilet facilities, showers and the bar of Clube Naval do Seixal Pools, right next to it, which is a free access facility with a natural pool and sun loungers. Here you can rent kayaks and diving equipment.

Another great free access option for a swim are the crystal-clear waters of the volcanic natural pools called ‘Poças das Lesmas’, a quiet and sheltered place that has a bar, as well as toilet and shower facilities.

And close to it, you’ll find a beach with an alternative name for the north coast of the island — the bathing complex of Laje, also known as 'Praia da Jamaica' (Jamaica beach), hidden between rocks of unique beauty. The name 'Praia da Jamaica' came from the plantation of palm trees along the path that leads to the sea. This black sand and pebble beach, which has a bar, toilets and shower facilities, stands out not only for its clear waters, but also for the tranquillity you will find here.
