The Miradouro do Guindaste, located in Faial parish next to Ribeira do Faial beach and at an elevation of 26 metres (85 feet), offers a breathtaking view of Madeira's northern coast, stretching from Faial to Ponta de São Lourenço and the Atlantic Ocean.
From this popular vantage point in the municipality of Santana, you can see the vast ocean crashing against the island's northern coast, as well as magnificent sunrises and, on a clear day, the island of Porto Santo.
In addition to this wonderful viewpoint, after being closed for renovations since 2021, the Guindaste viewpoint on the island's northeast coast reopened at the end of August 2022 with two glass viewing walkways that extend out over the ocean, an exciting new state-of-the-art attraction where tourists can snap photos and take in the scenery.
