High definition live streaming webcam overlooking the lovely Calheta beach, the marina and the surrounding mountains, in the Municipality of Calheta on Madeira Island's southern coast. This 24/7 feed is brought to you by Madeira-web in partnership with the fabulous arts centre, the MUDAS. Contemporary Art Museum, a striking cliff-top modern building designed by internationally renowned Madeira architect Paulo David, which has won several awards for its incredible architecture work.
The village of Calheta is a popular seaside resort with a beautiful golden sandy beach, excellent restaurants and shops. There is also an old sugar cane refinery “Engenho da Calheta” a museum and a fully functioning sugar factory that still produces sugar cane molasses and firewater “aguardente”. The factory can be seen working during the sugar cane harvest between April and May.
